As we are extremely busy with the final preparations for mednet99, we are unable to upload any presentations that we received after Sep 15 8this was the deadline). However, please continue to send us your presentations files, as we will upload them after the congress!
• 1999-09-11: We included some useful links in the "venue" section to facilitate your travel
• 1999-09-09: Images of the congress venue (lobby) uploaded
• 1999-09-09: In the detailed congress programme (Sun - Mon - Tue) you can now find hyperlinks to the abstracts published in a supplement of the J Med Internet Research.

• 1999-07-31: Today was  the last chance for early registration - we only accept "regular" registrations at this point. If you registered "early" (before August 1st), we must receive your printed form and the money within one week after registration, otherwise we will delete your database entry. Please note that the deadline for early registration cannot be extended - please refrain from making any such requests.
• 1999-07-29: Changes in the methods of payment announced: If you pay by cheque from a non-EURO country, please convert the fee into your own currency and issue the cheque in your local currency.

• 1999-06-17: A subgroup of the G7 Global Health Care Applications Project (Sub-project 3: Improving Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment of Cardiovascular Disease) will organize a workshop session "Promoting Heart Health in G7/G8 Countries: The G7/G8 Telematics Project". Details will follow.

• 1999-05-29: We have already more than 250 pre-registrations and 100 abstract submissions for mednet99 - this event is going to be really big! We also have a FAQ now.
• 1999-05-29: mednet99 is now also officialy recognized by the Sociedad Iberoamericana de Informacion Cientifica (SIIC): "On behalf of the Senior Council of SIIC we have the pleasure to inform you that the prestigious "World Congress of Internet in Medicine" has been considered of scientific interest by Spanish and Latinamerican health professionals. This consideration implies that we will contribute to its diffusion through SIIC's media and mass media related to SIIC."
• 1999-05-28: After Prof. Shortliffe and Prof. LaPorte a third internationally known speaker confirmed to deliver a keynote - Prof. Alejandro (Alex) Jadad, Director of the McMaster University Evidence-based Practice Center and Co-Director of the Canadian Cochrane Centre, will hold a keynote presentation on "Consumers and the Internet".
• 1999-05-26: Kirsti Dyer, presenter of the tutorial T5 "Learn HTML in Heidelberg - Effective Web Page Designs for Medical Professionals", has created a separate tutorial homepage at http://www.journeyofhearts.org/workshop.htm
• 1999-05-25: We published some example titles for submitted presentations (note: this is a selection of particularly interesting titles submitted to us thus far, and not a comprehensive list). You still have 6 days to submit your own abstract!
• 1999-05-20: Prof. Ron LaPorte, University of Pittsburgh, School of Public Health will hold a keynote presentation entitled "2001: A global health odyssey". Ron is the driving foce behind the Global Health Network (GHNet), an alliance of experts in health and telecommunications who are actively developing the architecture for a health information structure for the prevention of disease in the 21st century. The professionals involved in GHNet bring together expertise from the essential areas of government, international organizations, business, and academia. Represented are experts from the World Bank, NASA, AT&T, IBM, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), and the World Health Organization (WHO) and from the field of epidemiology.

• 1999-03-24: We are proud to announce that Ted Shortliffe, Professor for Medical Informatics from Stanford University, who is one of the leading scientists in this field and who is (among other activities) member of the US Presidential Information Technology Advisory Committee and the Advisory Committee on Internet-2 (University Consortium for Advanced Internet Development), will hold a keynote presentation on the "Future of the Internet" at mednet99
